Born and raised right here in Charlottetown, Andrew Cotton embraces a passion for the abundant food bounty that Prince Edward Island has to offer. Growing up on the island surrounded by family, Andrew developed a great appreciation for the importance of food in bringing people together to create the memories and traditions that we share and cherish forever.

Andrew was first introduced to cooking at a young age through helping out at home and learning the basics from family members through the years. Andrew’s
professional culinary career began in his teenage years working in local Charlottetown hotels and restaurants. This experience led his decision to enroll in the world renowned Culinary Institute of Canada. It was here that his passion for food and the culinary community was deepened. While attending the CIC, Andrew had the great fortune of becoming involved in the world of culinary competitions. Through this experience he was afforded the opportunity to travel across Canada and most importantly develop connections and friendships that remain with him today. Andrew apprenticed in Winnipeg, Manitoba under Chef Takashi Murakami at the St .Charles Country Club. Upon returning home to Prince Edward Island Andrew made the decision to join the Murphy Group of Restaurants. Throughout this endeavour he has spent many great years working closely with friend and mentor Chef Adam Loo.

When not in the kitchen, Andrew can be found woodworking in his workshop at home, disc golfing or spending quality time with friends and family. As the Chef at Merchantman, Andrew is excited to be part of the ever expanding culinary community on Prince Edward Island.
